A split-bedroom house plan has a layout that places the primary suite away from the other bedrooms. It can be privately located on one side of a one-story home or on another level in a multi-story design. Split-bedroom layouts with a main-level primary suite and secondary bedrooms upstairs are very common, but you'll also find blueprints that place the other bedrooms in the finished basement or that put the suite on top.
